about

Worst Behavior is thrilled to share the long-awaited Move Like A Fish EP by Tony Quattro & Siete Catorce. Tony Quattro and Siete Catorce are both established artists with their own styles. This collaboration sees these friends team up to create hybrid music bringing together the best of both of their sounds.

In a league all his own, Mexicali born artist Siete Catorce is known for his unique hybridization of Latin-American sounds with deep club sensibilities. His distinctive rhythmic syntax and impeccable sound design mixed with traditional instrumentation make his hypnotic work feel simultaneously futuristic and ancient. Producer and DJ Tony Quattro attributes his eclectic taste to having spent his formative years in NYC and London. The now Los Angeles-based producer is equally influenced by the sounds of the five boroughs of NYC as he is by the seven continents of the world. Tony Quattro is a consistently versatile producer, shifting his rhythms and tempos to avoid any form of typicality, as evidenced in his releases on labels ranging from Enchufada and Nervous Records to Mad Decent and OWSLA.

About the release, Tony Quattro says:

“We met in 2018 in LA and clicked quickly when we realized we had a few shared interests outside of music. We had no initial plan for the record, but were more just getting together to have fun, jam, and drink beer. We would trade sessions that we started on our own but also started a few tracks together from scratch. We took inspiration from a mutual fascination/love of horror movies, the supernatural, and ancient history. For me personally, the vibe of the record definitely strikes some ritualistic, ancestral chords while hinting at the presence of other dimensions and spirits interacting with our world (in fact, we were pretty convinced that the Move Like A Fish files were somehow haunted/corrupted by a spirit). Once we finished about 7 or 8 tracks we picked our favorites that felt like they really worked together for an EP, brought it to you guys, we got Lua Preta on the feature, and the rest is history!”

The songs born out of this unique collaboration are influenced by genres including Cumbia, Tarraxo, Juke, UK Funky, Dembow, and Ancestral/Tribal pre-Hispanic sounds, giving them an otherworldly and timeless quality.

Remixes from Nikki Nair and Deeplinkin offer additional interpretations of Tony Quattro and Siete Catorce’s work while exploring faster BPMs. Atlanta-based Nikki Nair brings his signature flavor–always something fresh, and always a banger—to his remix of The Cat, which features vocals from Gia G of Angolan/Polish duo Lua Preta. His jungle-tinged remix is heavyweight yet minimal, flipping The Cat into a peaktime bubbler. Deeplinkin’s take on Qesem Cave transforms the mystical banger into a pounding soundsystem workout. The San Antonio and Mexico City-based producer has been forging a distinctive sound of her own, creating heavy tunes that combine a love for soundsystem and rave music with dark yet beautiful sonic palettes & cinematic sound design.
